Habitat for Humanity seeks to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ to all people. While Habitat is a Christian organization, it invites and welcomes into affiliate leadership positions others committed to Habitat's Mission, Official Purposes and foundation Principles. The affiliate board will reflect the racial, ethnic and gender diversity of the area to be served.
Habitat for Humanity is a people-to-people partnership drawing families and communities in need together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing with people in need of adequate shelter. Habitat is committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not only to construction of houses.
Habitat for Humanity builds, renovates and repairs simple, decent and affordable housing with people who are living in inadequate housing and who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means.
Habitat for Humanity selects homeowner families based on their need for adequate shelter; their ability to pay for the Habitat house; and their willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity does not discriminate in the selection of families on the bases of race, creed, gender, disability, ethnic background or any other characteristic protected by law. All homeowners contribute "sweat equity;" they work in partnership with the affiliate and other volunteers to accomplish Habitat's mission, both locally and worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity finances the construction and sale of houses to selected families with no profit or interest added. House payments will be used for the construction or renovation of additional affordable housing. The affiliate will establish a Fund for Humanity. The Fund for Humanity consiste of funds from mortgage payments, local contributions and other donors. This Fund can only be used to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
The Affiliate will comply with the minimum standards contained in the Standards of Excellence established by Habitat for Humanity International.
Habitat for Humanity is a global partnership. In recognition of and commitment to that global partnership, each affiliate is expected to contribute (tithe) at least 10% of its cash contributions to Habitat's international work. Funds specifically designated by a donor for local work only may be excluded from the tithe.
Habitat for Humanity welcomes partnerships with governments that includes accepting funds and other resources to help set the stage for the construction of houses, provided these partnerships do not limit our ability to demonstrate the love and teaching of Jesus Christ, and further provided that affiliates do not become dependent on or controlled by government funds or other resources thus obtained. Habitat for Humanity does not seek and will not accept government funds or other resources for the construction of houses. Setting the stage is interpreted to include land, houses for rehabilitation, infrastructure for streets, utilities capacity building, training, and administrative expenses. Funding from third parties who accept government funds or other resources with sole discretion over their use will not be considered government funds or other resources for Habitat purposes.
Page County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) is dedicated to eradicating poverty-level housing in Page County. We are part of Habitat for Humanity International, which has the same goal for the world.
We work with prospective homeowners and volunteers to build adequate, not fancy housing. Our typical house is 1100 square feet, including three bedrooms.
PCHFH has completed 20 houses since our beginning in 1993. They are well built houses, and their owners take great pride in keeping them nice.
Our houses are sold to selected homeowners, essentially for the actual cost of the house. Habitat holds a no-interest mortgage, with the payments determined by the family's ability to pay.
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with GOD and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses, so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience GOD's love and can live and grow into all that GOD intends.
